How modern exhaust gas purification works
Exhaust gas purification aims to reduce harmful emissions such as nitrogen oxides (NOₓ). Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is often used in trucks: part of the exhaust gas is fed back into the intake tract to lower the combustion temperature and thus reduce NOₓ. The system comprises EGR valves, EGR modules, coolers, seals and control components.
Technical fine-tuning in the EGR system
For an EGR system to work reliably, all components must be precisely matched to each other: valve control, pressure ratios, material resistance and sealing points all interact. Incorrect coordination can result in malfunctions, excess emissions or engine damage.
