Control and sensor technology for efficient motor function

Engine electrics include sensors, actuators, control units, ignition and injection components, wiring and fuses that operate in the engine environment. They measure temperature, pressure, speed or other parameters and control valves, injection nozzles or ignition systems. Together, they ensure optimum performance, efficiency and emission values.

Intelligence in the engine

For electrical components to work reliably, signal characteristics, electrical levels, connection standards and ambient conditions must be taken into account. Components such as sensors or control units must be protected against heat, vibrations, moisture and electrical interference in order to deliver permanently accurate values.

Motor electrics

What should you look out for when buying:

Robustness and complexity in truck engine electrics
The engine electrics in trucks face much higher demands than in passenger cars. Truck engines are designed for maximum mileage and continuous operation under changing climatic and load conditions. This requires the electrical components to be extremely robust against vibrations, heat development and temperature fluctuations. In particular, the sensors that operate in the direct engine environment (e.g. exhaust gas temperature sensors or pressure sensors in the common rail system) must function reliably and precisely under extremely aggressive conditions. A sensor failure in a truck can not only reduce performance, but also directly jeopardize compliance with the strict emission standards (Euro VI).

Networking and control units for complex systems
The engine electrics in trucks are closely networked with complex electronic systems. The engine control unit (ECU) and its associated actuators and sensors not only control the fuel injection and boost pressure control, but also the entire exhaust gas aftertreatment (DPF, SCR with AdBlue injection). Communication with other control units (e.g. for transmission or brakes/EBS) is critical. Spare parts must therefore ensure exact ECU compatibility and error-free signal processing so as not to disrupt the complex logic of the CAN bus system. The use of OE or OEM quality is essential here to avoid system errors and costly downtime.

High current load and environmental resistance
Trucks have a large number of electrical consumers and are reliant on powerful alternators (generators), which often work with higher voltages (24 V) and extremely high currents. The electrical wiring and the connectors of the engine electrics must be able to withstand these high current loads and the constant mechanical stress. In addition, the motor electrical components are often exposed to the direct influence of water, dirt and road salt. When purchasing, therefore, attention must be paid to a high protection class (IP protection class) and the corrosion resistance of all connectors and housings to ensure that the control and sensor systems function reliably over the entire service life.
