Particle filter
The oil filter cleans the engine oil of abrasive particles, impurities and suspended matter before the oil returns to the circuit. This protects the bearings, crank mechanism and other components from excessive wear and maintains lubrication performance even under load.
Accuracy of filter and seal
For the filter and seal to work effectively, they must be precisely matched – with the correct flow rate, filter surface and sealing surfaces. Only careful coordination can ensure that there is no unfiltered oil supply or leaks.
The engine of a truck operates under extreme conditions. High mileages, constant heavy loads and the typical, very long maintenance intervals of commercial vehicles place much higher demands on the oil filter than in the passenger car segment. A truck filter must therefore have an extremely high dirt-holding capacity in order to reliably bind large quantities of soot and abrasion over tens of thousands of kilometers. Only the use of high-quality, pressure-stable filter media ensures that the important protection of the turbocharger, the bearings and the entire engine remains constant over the entire maintenance period.
Another special feature lies in the technology used: Due to the high precision of modern engines (e.g. Euro VI with common rail), particularly fine oil purity is often required. Many truck systems therefore use bypass filtration in addition to the main flow filter in order to efficiently remove even the smallest particles. The filter must also integrate important safety functions: A bypass valve secures the oil supply in the event of heavy contamination or cold starts, and a backflow preventer ensures that the engine is lubricated immediately after starting.
