The heart of the wheel guide
The steering knuckle connects the chassis to the wheels and transmits both steering and load-bearing forces. It is the rotatable wheel carrier that swivels around an almost vertical axis so that the wheel and steering can be moved directionally. Its typical components include kingpins, plain bearing bushes, seals, O-rings and grease nipples as part of repair kits.
Technology in interaction
A steering knuckle must be mechanically robust, impact- and stress-resistant and at the same time provide precise guidance. The connection to track rods, steering levers and wheel bearings must work without play. Sealing and bearing components ensure that lubricants stay where they should and foreign matter stays outside.
