Fuel level reliably detected
The fuel level sensor measures the fuel level in the tank – usually via a float on a lever arm that sits in a variable resistor. The resistance changes depending on the position of the float, and this signal is sent to the instrument cluster, which displays the current level.
Technology inside
A good tank sensor must not only be mechanically robust, but also provide stable electrical readings. The sensors, contacts and seals must be precisely designed so that the fill level is always displayed correctly and fluctuations caused by driving movements are compensated for.
