Roller in the chassis
The axle beam connects the wheels and suspension elements to each other or to the vehicle frame. In many designs, it absorbs wheel guidance forces, longitudinal and lateral forces and ensures that the wheels behave in the correct geometry under load. The bearing ensures a rotatable, stable mounting without play.
Load-bearing connection
An axle beam must be both rigid and strong, as well as precisely manufactured. The bearing points (bores, bushings, bearing bodies) must fit exactly to ensure alignment and avoid unwanted play. In addition, suitable sealing and bearing components must be used to prevent lubricant loss and corrosion.
