Reliable connection

An electrical kit establishes the electrical connection between the towing vehicle and trailer. Whether lighting, signal transmission or additional functions – safe operation of a towbar is only guaranteed with the right wiring harness.

Electrical safety for your trailer operation

The range includes various electrical kits, connection and cable adapters, e.g. 2-pin and 6-pin connection sets, EBS cables or EasyConn solutions from Hella. These components have been specially developed for commercial vehicles and ensure that the trailer lighting and systems function reliably.

Expert Guide: Everything You Need to Know About Electrical Kits & Trailer Hitches

The electrical kit establishes the electrical connection between the towing vehicle and the trailer. It supplies power to the lights, turn signals, brake lights, and rear fog lights, as well as to additional functions, and transmits the necessary signals—a basic requirement for safe and legally compliant trailer operation.
The number of poles indicates how many individual wires the connector carries. The more functions a trailer has, the more poles are required. Simple trailers require only a few poles, while semi-trailers with additional systems require multi-pole connections.
The key factors are the number of pins required, the appropriate connector type, and the trailer’s available features. Check which systems need to be connected (e.g., just the lights or also the EBS), and select the kit based on the equipment of the towing vehicle and the trailer.
Adapter solutions and EasyConn systems connect different types of connectors. This allows a towing vehicle to be flexibly coupled with trailers of varying configurations without having to make extensive modifications to the existing wiring.
EBS stands for the electronic braking system used in modern trailers and semi-trailers. EBS wiring harnesses provide the necessary data and power connections. They are required whenever a trailer is equipped with an EBS or other electronically controlled auxiliary systems.
Typical signs include trailer lights that go out or flicker, turn signals or brake lights that don’t work, error messages on the dashboard, and corrosion or loose connections on the plug. Common causes include damaged wires, dirty contacts, or moisture intrusion.
Make sure you have the correct number of terminals, the right type of connector, and that the product is suitable for your specific vehicle-trailer combination. With modern trailers, EBS wiring harnesses or adapters with additional wires are also required to connect all systems correctly.
We carry wiring kits, connector and cable adapters, EBS cables, and EasyConn solutions from Hella for all major commercial vehicle brands, such as MAN, Mercedes-Benz, Scania, Volvo, DAF, and Iveco.
