The NOₓ sensor measures the nitrogen oxide concentration in the exhaust gas, the lambda sensor measures the residual oxygen content, the temperature sensor measures the exhaust gas temperature, and the pressure sensor measures the differential pressure (e.g., across the particulate filter). Each type of sensor provides the control unit with different, yet equally essential, information.
The NOₓ sensor measures nitrogen oxide levels before and after the SCR catalyst. Based on these readings, the control module calculates the exact amount of AdBlue® required. A faulty sensor results in incorrect dosing, poorer emissions, and often error messages.
