What needs to be put to the test now
Axles and running gear Trailers, slurry tankers and field sprayers are often left standing for weeks in winter. Axle bearings, brakes and wheel nuts should be checked thoroughly before first use. BPW axle components in particular are easy to check yourself – in the event of wear or damage, FZB supplies the appropriate spare parts quickly and reliably.
Lighting and electrics Moisture and cold can damage plug connections and cable insulation. Check all lights – indicators, brake lights, rotating beacons – before driving on the road for the first time. Defective lights are not only a safety risk, but also a frequent reason for complaints during inspections.
Hydraulic system Check hydraulic hoses for cracks, crushing and leaking connections. Check the hydraulic oil for the correct fill level and recommended viscosity. A burst hydraulic hose in the middle of the field costs far more than a timely inspection.
Tires and tires Check tire pressure and tread depth – this is often forgotten, especially with trailers. Cracks in the sidewall or uneven wear are clear warning signs that the tires need to be changed soon.
Filters and lubricants Change the air filter, oil filter and fuel filter after the winter and work through the machine lubrication schedule. Clean filters and fresh lubricants significantly extend the service life of all moving parts.
