From the Bergische Achsenfabrik to the global group
BPW stands for Bergische Patentachsenfabrik – founded in 1898 in Wiehl, Germany. What began as a regional axle manufacturer is now an international group of companies with production sites on several continents and a product range that goes far beyond the classic axle. What makes BPW running gear systems special
Axle systems At the heart of the BPW portfolio are the axle systems for trailers and semi-trailers. Brake Systems BPW develops and manufactures disc and drum brakes that are perfectly matched to its own axle systems. The EBS electronic braking system ensures precise brake force distribution and maximum driving safety—even for heavy trains under full load.
Air suspension The BPW air suspension systems protect both the load and the road. They automatically adjust the spring stiffness to the load, reduce vibrations and noticeably extend the service life of the vehicle and load.
Lift Axle Systems For vehicles that are not always fully loaded, BPW lift axles offer an efficient solution: Unused axles are raised, significantly reducing tire wear and fuel consumption.
Maintenance and spare parts – easier than expected
A major advantage of BPW systems is their consistent ease of maintenance. Much of the maintenance work can be performed with standard tools, and replacement parts are clearly documented and available worldwide.
