What happens before the parcel arrives?
You order a spare part online or call one of our branches – and the part will be with you the next day. What sounds so obvious is the result of a well-coordinated team, well thought-out logistics and a warehouse that is second to none. Today we take you behind the scenes at FZB Fahrzeugbedarf.
6:00 am – The day begins
While most people are still asleep, the first processes are already underway at FZB. The warehouse team starts early: incoming goods are checked, delivery bills are checked, newly arrived items are booked in and put away. Over 350,000 items need to know their place – and thanks to a structured warehouse management system, they find it straight away.
8:00 a.m. – The orders arrive
At the start of the business day, the first orders start rolling in – by phone, email and via the web store. Every request lands directly in the system. Our employees know the range inside out: Which part fits which vehicle? Is there an equivalent alternative if the original is not available? These questions are not answered by computers – but by people with years of experience.
10:00 a.m. – Picking at full speed
The warehouse is a hive of activity. Order pickers work through the pick lists – from small seals to complete axle units. Each item is checked, scanned and carefully packed. Sensitive components such as brake disks or electronic parts are specially protected so that they arrive undamaged.
13:00 – Consulting is day-to-day business
Parallel to the logistics, sales are running at full speed. Workshops are calling, hauliers are standing at the counter, farmers have questions about the right axle component for their trailer. Our expert advisors take their time – because a wrong part number ends up costing more than a short consultation.
15:00 – The last departure
The parcel service collects the day’s orders. Anything ordered by early afternoon will be with the customer tomorrow. Express orders can also be collected directly from one of our branches – often on the same day.
6:00 p.m. – Closing time? Almost.
While the team winds down for the day, the web store continues to run. Orders received in the evening are processed first thing the next morning. The system never sleeps – and our warehouse is ready for the next day.
